The War Between AT&T and Verizon

Category : Featured, Phones, Web/Tech

verizon-att-swap-tap-assetsVerizon and AT&T seem to be in a never ending battle over who has the better network. Verizon however has begun taking low blows at AT&T in what I believe is iPhone envy, but neverless, they claim that every new smartphone they come out with is the next iPhone killer.

What the carriers don’t realize is that most people choose their carrier because they have the phone they want, not because of the network. If someone really wants an iPhone, they will switch to AT&T because they have the phone they want

I had the Droid for a couple weeks, and compared to the iPhone, yes it does multitask, but I don’t need that and don’t really care about multitasking because most iPhone IM clients keep you connected and you get notified of new messages when they arrive, just like on any other smartphone.

If Verizon has to attack other carriers just to pull in business then maybe they need to look at how they do business and focus on what the consumers want and not what they think is best.

In the Droid/iPhone battle, here is the cost breakdown for service, not the devices:

Droid – 900 minute plan 59.99, 5000 text messages 20.00, Unlimited Data 44.99, Visual Voice Mail 2.99
Total Monthly Cost (less tax) – 127.97

iPhone – 900 minute rollover 59.99, Unlimited text messages 20.00, Unlimited data 30.00, visual voice mail free
Total Monthly Cost (less tax) – 109.99

That’s almost 30.00 cheaper for the iPhone, and you don’t have a limit on text messages which I love.

So, Verizon needs to play nice because when more and more people realize that they are actually more expensive, and price out every single feature they will start to loose people, not pull them in. They need to grow up and realize that people are annoyed more than anything, and that when it comes down to it, people want the devices, not the network.

BTW, here is the map of AT&T with their full data coverage keep in mind it includes EDGE, but it’s more accurate.
