Looking Ahead

Category : Work, Life, etc.

I have been reading a lot of blogs lately that cover the best and worst of 2008, future and past predictions, blah, blah, blah…

I have decided to look ahead and start looking at where I can take myself in the new year. I have several ideas about some podcast series that I would like to get off the ground, and hopefully with the help of a couple friends, we can take those ideas into fruition, so instead of publishing my own best and worst lists, I will just wish everyone a happy New Year, and here’s to a good year ahead.

Geekbrief Christmas Party

Category : Entertainment, Web/Tech

I watched the Geekbrief live Christmas party last night, it was great. Geoff Smith and Cali put on a great show, and I was amused the whole time. It went from 8 until about 11:45 last night. Geoff is a genius, and if you want to get his music go to his website.

Social Network Craze

Category : Web/Tech, Work, Life, etc.

I belong to a lot of social networks, and until recently, I had forgotten how many, so I http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk112/Chachafance/Social%20Web%20Tools/ping_fm_screenshot.jpgstarted using ping.fm to update once and it will go to most of the networks I belong to. So ping.fm is updating my info to twitter, facebook, plurk, pownce, myspace, linkedin, brightkite, friendfeed, jaiku, plaxo pulse, rejaw, delicious and flikr. That’s just a shortlst. Friendfeed picks up where ping.fm left off, and grabs all my postings from a lot more social networks and puts them into one feed, I have found out that now I tell everyone to follow my friendfeed to find out what I am doing.

My friendfeed is pulling from my blog, brightkite, del.icio.us, digg, facebook, flikr, goodreads, google reader, jaiku, joost, last.fm, linkedin, picasa web albums, plurk, pownce, reddit, twine, twitter, wakoopa, yelp and youtube.

I am one who likes things simple, but I also like social networks and what they can accomplish. I would have to say, if you haven’t yet used twitter, get an account and follow me, twitter is fun and an easy thing to get started using. If you have multiple accounts, then friendfeed and ping.fm are for you as well, that way you can update your status on all the networks using ping.fm, and friendfeed will pull all the stuff from the networks into one feed you can give out.

Here is a complete list of all the networks friendfeed can capture.

Social networking can get overwhelming, and there are a lot of sites out there you may not think of as a social network, but there is a way to get all that information in one place.

Post your social network links in the comments, or add me as a friend on the above sites.

My iPhone

Category : Web/Tech, Work, Life, etc.

So lately, I have been downloading iphone apps like crazy, now granted, I haven’t purchased a lot of them, I just wait for them to go free for a limited time, then I grab them. I have been using the feeds from AppShopper and that keeps me updated on new apps, price changes, version changes and a few other things. My area also just recently got the 3G upgrade, so now my battery life kind of sucks a whole lot more, so I can’t play as much when I am not around a power supply. I still have to say that the iphone is the best phone out there, and if you are on the edge deciding to get one, go for it, you won’t regret it.
