Greasemonkey

Category : Web/Tech

I know this is probably old news, but for all you Firefox/Flock users out there, I can’t stress the use of the Greasemonkey extension for the browser. It allows you to customize many popular web sites to your liking. One of the best extensions out there is the Better Gmail 2 extension from Lifehacker. There is also a Better Flickr and Better YouTube extension. If you want to see all the scripts for yourself, head over to Userscripts and find what you need there.

Music Pick of the Week

Category : Music

I have always been an avid fan of all kinds of music. I recently saw the cd cover photo for an artist named Kate Voegele and admit I was curious.

Amazon.com: Don’t Look Away

I decided to check it out, so I got the album, which you can purchase from amazon by clicking the link above. The sounds I heard took me to a new world. She is one amazing artist.

From her official site…

The tracks range from the rootsy acoustic ballad “Wish You Were,” with its mandolin and accordion filigree, and the sparse, piano-based “Kindly Unspoken” to the widescreen heartbreak anthem “Only Fooling Myself” and the ironically titled “It’s Only Life,” a soaring expression of female empowerment, which Voegele describes as “a motivational, uplifting song about dealing with situations rather than trying to hide from them.” “One Way or Another” is an edgy rocker about romantic victimization, while the punchy “Chicago,” she says, “is a metaphorical representation of any kind of escape, about just needing to get away. The line at the end of the chorus is, ‘I’ll be on the seven o’clock to Chicago,’ so it refers to a specific city, but it’s universally applicable.”

This is one talented female vocalist, and if she continues on the path she has paved, she will go a long way. So go out and support her and buy her album.

The Best Outlook Plugin Ever!!!

Category : Software, Web/Tech, Work, Life, etc.

I recently read an article on Lifehacker about a plugin for Outlook called Xobni (inbox backwards). This plugin is something that should be installed on all pc’s running outlook. The features include email analytics, useful contact cards, fast search, threaded conversations and a lot more. I really can’t explain it, but check out this video…

Now go sign up for the beta and hope you get an invite. I have a couple invites left, but It’s worth the wait if you can’t download it right away.

Pretty Up Windows Mobile with Pointui

Category : Web/Tech

Windows Mobile: Freeware skinning application Pointui makes the notoriously kludgy Windows Mobile interface more usable and accessible, and does so with great success. Most notably, the Pointui interface allows for fingertip navigation (à la the iPhone) rather than the traditional stylus (or fingernail) navigation that requires you to pinpoint with pixel precision. Not every aspect of WM is skinned, so you’ll be returned to WM ugliness from time to time, but where it’s skinned well (especially the system settings) it’s great. For a fuller look at what Pointui can do for your WM device, check out Gizmodo’s video tour and glowing review. If you’ve been down on Windows Mobile ever since you saw what navigation on the iPhone is like, skinning that phone with the freeware Pointui might be just what the doctor ordered.
