Firefox Tip

Posted by Brian On July - 23 - 2005

I was surfing the web and came across a good wallpaper site, and got bored right-clicking on each image and choosing save as…so I tried something…I tried dragging the picture to the folder, and low and behold it worked, and it was a lot faster than choosing save as every time…enjoy the tip.

Gmail Tips – The Complete Collection

Ok, so a lot of people are getting gmail accounts now that we all have 50 or so invites to give away, so I was using the Firefox extension Stumble This, and came across this site. It gives you some gmail tips, albeit some are outdated, but they are very helpful. Have fun with them.

E-Mail

Posted by Brian On July - 13 - 2005

So last night I was looking over my outlook email accounts, and there was 10 different email accounts there. It was out of hand. I have like 5 sepearate gmail accounts, all for my company. Plus an msn email, yahoo, my isp’s email, and on and on. It was getting hard to keep emails seperate and organized until I had a brilliant idea.

I love Mozilla’s software as I currently use Firefox as my default browser, and as of yesterday, I have been getting to know Opera, but back on subject. Mozilla has a great email and news client called Thunderbird, so I decided to finally use it. I had it downloaded and it was just sitting there waiting patiently for me to use it, so I added all my gmail accounts to it, and it keeps them seperate and organized.

I couldn’t believe I had this available the whole time and just thought about doing it that way last night.

BTW if you want a gmail invite, just shoot me an email and I will send you one.

Opera 8.02 BitTorrent Technology Preview available

Opera 8.02 BitTorrent Technology Preview available – My Opera Forums

Ok, so I heard through the grapevine that Opera, an alternative web browser was going to include built in support for downloading BitTorrent files. When I heard this, I had to check it out. I personally have never used Opera before, but I downloaded it, and I am finding more and more that I like it. The built in torrent support is great, and it includes tabbed browsing. Opera’s free version includes ads at the top, but they are small and bearable. So, if you don’t know what bittorrent is, or don’t know what client to use, get opera and you will have an all in one solution.

Podcasting is getting more popular

Apple – iTunes

Ok, so you all might have heard of podcasting, but don’t know what it is. A podcast is basically a way for someone or an organization to publish an audio broadcast over the net for users to download. You don’t have to have an iPod to listen to a podcast as most of them are in mp3 format so you can listen to them with any mp3 player or on your desktop pc. Apple’s new version of iTunes (v4.9) includes support for managing podcasts and subscribing to them. Get in the know and start listening to or maybe you want to make your own, as iTunes lets you publish also.
